As part of a new promise to engage every citizen in the power of music and dance, the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is seeking to exceed $15 million in our endowment, with both cash and new planned gift commitments. This endowment fundraising initiative, One Dayton. One Alliance, is a vital element in the advancement of a bold reimagining of the performing arts in Dayton through innovative programming and dynamic education opportunities.
We are calling on the Dayton community to help us reach our goal so we can ensure that innovative programming, dynamic educational opportunities, and live performances continue. To date, we’ve raised $12 million of the $15 million goal. We need your to help take us to the finish line!
Why does the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance Matter to Dayton?
1. We Engage our Community, on the Stage and across the Region.
The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is the largest performing arts organization in the Miami Valley. We offer over 80 Philharmonic, Ballet and Opera performances each year, including exciting offerings such as our Family Series, Recital Series, Rockin’ Orchestra, SuperPops and free community events. We provide over 90,000 people each year with live performances and broadcast to over 800,000 through radio partnerships.
With the extent of our programs and performances, we reach all 1.4 million people in the Miami Valley. The economic influence of our presence in the Dayton region results in local spending of over $12 million, generating over $1.3 million in tax revenue. Your support of the arts directly affects the economic prosperity and viability of the Miami Valley. With the arts, Dayton is richer both culturally and economically.
2. We Help Build Strong Citizens through Arts Education.
Meeting critical needs of our community through education and outreach fosters an appreciation for the arts and makes our community stronger. As school music programs face budget cutbacks and shortfalls, the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance helps fill the void by providing arts education to over 150 schools and 65,000 students in the 14 counties surrounding Dayton.
3. We Help Attract and Retain Employees in Dayton.
In order to succeed, Dayton employers must attract and retain the best and brightest workers of today and tomorrow. We provide a bedrock of culture and activity that serves an employer’s ability to attract and retain those valuable employees and their families.
To reach our goal of sustaining the arts in the Dayton region, we need the help of each donor, subscriber and patron of the arts. Please help us raise the last 20% needed to reach the goal of $15 million. Take a moment to review the enclosed donation form, or go online at www.daytonperformingarts.org/endowment – and then take action! Your gift today will keep the performing arts alive and thriving in Dayton.
